The crash occurred on Sunday August 17, 2014 at approximately 5:49 p.m.
How/Why:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a crash that occurred at Blind Pass Road and 75th Avenue St. Pete Beach.
At approximately 5:49 p.m a 2014 Chevy Cruz driven by Lina De Capvalho was stopped in the left turn lave of eastbound 75th Avenue. She was stopped, partially in the intersection, waiting for traffic to clear to travel northbound on Blind Pass Road. A 2008 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by James Garbee was traveling westbound on 75th Avenue. As the motorcycle entered the intersection the Chevy made a left turn trying to clear the intersection due to the light turning yellow.
Both the driver and the passenger in the Chevy were not injured. Garbee was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
Alcohol and drug impairment are not factors in the crash.
The investigation continues.
