14-215 Deputies Investigate A Single Vehicle Crash On The Indian Rocks Bridge

What:
Deputies are investigating a crash in Indian Rocks Beach.

Where:
The crash took place in the east bound lanes of the Indian Rocks Beach Bridge.  

When:
The crash occurred on Thursday August 21, 2014 at approximately 4:50 a.m.

How/Why:
Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on the Indian Rocks Bridge, at approximately 4:50 a.m. this morning. The Jeep, driven by Robin Smith, was heading east bound over the bridge. The vehicle struck the concrete guardrail on the bridge and overturned coming to rest on the driver side on the drawbridge portion of the bridge.

The investigation revealed an eye witness who saw the crash and observed Smith exit the wrecked vehicle. Smith then walked to the south side of the bridge, climbed over the railing and jumped into the water. Deputies and fire rescue units initiated a water rescue. A short time later, Smith was recovered unresponsive from the water by Clearwater Fire Department. Smith was transported to a nearby dock and pronounced deceased.  

 The cause of the crash is unknown.  

 The investigation continues.

Where:
Sky Trap and Skeet Club 3200 74th Avenue North, St. Petersburg

When:
Thursday August 21, 2014 at 3:44 p.m.

How/Why:
Deputies are investigating a fatal construction accident which occurred at the Sky Trap and Skeet Club at 3200 74th Avenue North at approximately 3:44 p.m.

John J. Winchester, an employee of Woodruff and Sons Construction, was operating a vibratory roller; which is a steam roller that vibrates to pack the sand. While backing up, south bound, on an embankment the roller flipped west. John was pinned under the metal roof. Construction crews were eventually able to remove the roller and John was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The investigation continues.

 

14-217 Deputies Arrest Funeral Home Removal Service Employee For Grand Theft After He Stole Deceased Victim’s Jewelry

What:
Deputies have arrested a funeral home removal service employee who stole jewelry from the deceased victim while he was in the home to remove her body.

Where:
The theft occurred at 1701 Pinehurst Road, Unit 23D in Dunedin.

When:
Deputies responded to the death investigation at approximately 12:46 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014. The funeral home employee was in the home while deputies were on scene.

How/Why:
Deputies have arrested a funeral home removal service employee who stole jewelry from a deceased victim while he was in the home to recover her body.

Deputies responded to a death investigation at 1701 Pinehurst Road, Unit 23D in Dunedin at approximately 12:46 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014. During their investigation, an employee from Alternate Transport Service Inc., who was contracted through Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, arrived to the home to remove the body.

As the employee was exiting the residence, deputies noticed a chain necklace hanging from the suspects pants pocket. Deputies attempted to stop the suspect, who then entered his vehicle and placed the jewelry inside. Deputies then questioned the suspect about the jewelry, who advised deputies the jewelry belonged to his girlfriend.

Deputies were able to photograph the jewelry, valued at approximately $1,000.00, and show it to the victim’s daughter. The victim’s daughter was able to positively identify that the jewelry belonged to the deceased victim, 88-year-old Maryellen Woods. Deputies again questioned the suspect who admitted to the theft allegations.

Deputies arrested the suspect, identified as  44-year-old Terrance Stubblefield, and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. Stubblefield has been charged with grand theft.

The investigation continues.

Stubblefield’s booking photo will be released once the booking process is complete.

 

14-218 Deputies Respond To Drowning At Residential Pool In Unincorporated Clearwater

What:
Deputies responded to a drowning at a residential pool in unincorporated Clearwater after a man was found unresponsive in the water. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

When:
Deputies responded to the incident at approximately 11:07 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014.

Where:
Deputies responded to 3400 Cove Kay Drive in unincorporated Clearwater.

Why/How:
Deputies are investigating a drowning at a residential pool in unincorporated Clearwater after a man was found unresponsive in the water.

According to deputies, 68-year-old Rodney Williamson was swimming in the residential pool within the Cove Cay condo complex at approximately 10:55 p.m. A neighbor located Williamson in the water unresponsive, pulled him from the water with the assistance of a security guard and called 9-1-1.

Deputies responded and Williamson was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Pinellas County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.

The investigation continues.

What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a fatal crash in Seminole.

When:
The crash occurred on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at approximately 6:03 p.m.

Where:
The incident took place on Bay Pines Blvd. just west at 95th Street North in Seminole.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a fatal crash in Seminole that occurred on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at approximately 6:03 p.m.

According to deputies, the driver of a 1999 Buick was traveling westbound on Bay Pines Blvd. at a high rate of speed. The driver of the Buick attempted to pass a vehicle on the right by driving on the right shoulder and sidewalk which cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The Buick then began to slide sideways, crossing the center median and striking a 2014 Toyota Prius which was traveling eastbound on Bay Pines Blvd. After impacting the Prius, the Buick came to a rest on the wall bordering the Bay Pines VA Hospital.

The driver of the Buick, identified as 21-year-old Jordan A. Schleimer was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Prius, identified as 47-year-old Roberta L. Cycotte, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While speed was a factor, is it unknown at this time if alcohol/drug impairment were also factors in the crash.

Eastbound lanes of Bay Pines Blvd. were closed at 100th Way for several hours during the investigation.

All lanes to Bay Pines Blvd. are now open.

The investigation continues.

14-220 Deputies Arrest Two Suspects In Connection To Seminole Car Burglary (For Further Details See Release 14-200)

What:
Detectives assigned to the Burglary/Pawn Unit have arrested two suspects in connection to a car burglary in the Seminole area. The vehicles in each of the burglaries were unlocked at the time of the incident.

When:
The car burglary occurred on Monday, July 28, 2014 at approximately 3:00 a.m. The two suspects were arrested in the afternoon hours of Monday, August 25, 2014.

Where:
The burglary occurred in the area of  74th Avenue and 125th Street in Seminole.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Burglary/Pawn Unit have arrested two suspects in connection to a car burglary that occurred in the area of 74th Avenue and 125th Street in Seminole on Monday, July 28, 2014.

According to detectives, the two suspects were observed walking through a neighborhood just south of 74th Avenue and 125th Street in Seminole. The suspects were observed entering the cab of the truck and removing items from inside. The truck was unlocked at the time of the theft.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to identify the two suspects as 17-year-old Lukas Creech and 21-year-old Ronnie Romeo.

Detectives met with Creech and Romeo on Monday, August 25, 2014 and both admitted to the allegations.

Creech was arrested and charged with One Count of Armed Burglary, One Count of Grand Theft-Firearm and One Count Vehicle Burglary. He was transported to PJAC without further incident.

Romeo was arrested and charged with One Count of Armed Burglary and One Count of Grand Theft-Firearm. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.

14-221 Detectives Seek Public’s Assistance In Identifying Lobster Tail Theft Suspects

What:
Detectives assigned to the Burglary and Pawn Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two theft suspects who recently stole lobster tails from a Clearwater seafood market.

When:
The suspects stole the lobster tails on Wednesday, August 28, 2014 at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Where:
The suspects stole the lobster tails from Wards Seafood Market & Galley located at 1001 Belleair Road in Clearwater.

Why/How:
Pinellas County detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two theft suspects who recently stole lobster tails from a Clearwater seafood market.

According to detectives, the suspects entered Wards Seafood Market & Galley located at 1001 Belleair Road in Clearwater on Wednesday, August 28, 2014 at approximately 1:45 p.m. The two female suspects were observed standing near a tall cooler where the lobster tails were stored. After a few minutes, one of the female suspects is observed reaching in the cooler, taking multiple lobster tails and placing them in the bottom of a stroller.

The female suspects were then observed exiting the store and driving away in a newer model 4-door sedan that is maroon in color.

Suspect#1 is described as a black female with short black hair. She was last observed wearing a black and white striped dress, carrying a black and white striped bag and pushing a stroller.

Suspect #2 described as a black female with a lip piercing. She was last observed wearing a multi-colored striped dress, black hair cap and carrying a baby carrier.

The suspects had three young children with them at the time of the theft.

The investigation continues.

14-222 Detectives Seek Public’s Assistance In Identifying Diner Burglary Suspect

Detectives assigned to the Burglary and Pawn Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a burglary suspect who recently stole from a diner in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

When:
The burglary occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at approximately 3:32 a.m.

Where:
The burglary occurred at Doe Doe’s Diner located at 9395 Bay Pines Blvd. in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
Pinellas County detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a burglary suspect who recently stole from a diner in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

According to detectives the suspect was observed pulling into the parking lot of Doe Doe’s Diner located at 9395 Bay Pines Blvd. in St. Petersburg on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at approximately 3:32 a.m. The suspect exits the vehicle, takes a bicycle from the bike rack and places it in the bed of the truck. He then forcibly breaks into the rear of the diner, takes an undisclosed amount of money from the register and leaves.

The suspect is described as a white male, thin build, approximately 5’5” to 5’8” tall with a beard. He was last observed wearing a camouflage hat, dark shorts, and a light colored shirt.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white Ford Ranger, possibly 2006 to 2009, with a silver tool box.

Detectives believe this suspect could be linked to an additional burglary at a nearby business, River Sweet Citrus, located at 209 150th Avenue in Madeira Beach.

The investigation continues.

14-224 Detectives Seek To Identify Cell Phone Store Armed Robbery Suspect

Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating an armed robbery suspect who robbed three Pinellas County cell phone stores.

When:
Two of the armed robberies occurred on Saturday, August 30, 2014 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The third armed robbery occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Where:
The armed robberies occurred at three different Metro PCS Stores.

The first armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS located at 1363 Main Street in Dunedin.

The second armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS located at 7700 US 19 North in Pinellas Park.

The third armed robbery occurred at 6581 102nd Avenue in Pinellas Park.

Why/How:
Pinellas County detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating an armed robbery suspect who robbed three different Pinellas County cell phone stores.

According to detectives, on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at approximately 3: 30 p.m. the suspect entered the Metro PCS Store located at 1363 Main Street in Dunedin. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was then later observed entering the Metro PCS located at 7700 US 19 North in Pinellas Park at approximately 5:00 p.m. the same day. The suspect again produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Tuesday, September, 2, 2014 at approximately 5:00 p.m. the same suspect entered the Metro PCS store located at 6581 102nd Avenue in Pinellas Park, produced a handgun and demanded money. After an undisclosed amount of money is placed in his bag, the suspect leaves the store.

The suspect is described as a black male, slim build, 6’3” to 6’4” tall. During the first two robberies the suspect was seen wearing dark colored pants, a red and white plaid shirt, a red bandana covering his face, sunglasses and a ball cap.

During the most recent robbery the suspect was observed to be wearing white pants, a light gray shirt, a light colored ball cap and sunglasses.

No one was injured during the robberies.

The investigation continues.

14-226 Metro PCS Armed Robbery Suspect Strikes Again (For Further Details See News Release #14-224)

Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating an armed robbery suspect who robbed four Pinellas County cell phone stores.

When:
Two of the armed robberies occurred on Saturday, August 30, 2014 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The third armed robbery occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Where:
The armed robberies occurred at four different Metro PCS Stores.

The first armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS located at 1363 Main Street in Dunedin.

The second armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS located at 7700 US 19 North in Pinellas Park.

The third armed robbery occurred at 6581 102nd Avenue in Pinellas Park.

The fourth armed robbery occurred at 3665 East Bay Drive in unincorporated Largo.

Why/How:

According to detectives, the most recent robbery occurred on Thursday, September 4, 2015 at approximately 5:17 p.m. The suspect entered the Metro PCS store located at 3665 East Bay Drive in unincorporated Largo, produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The same suspect is believed to have robbed three other local Metro PCS stores within the last week, two locations in Pinellas Park and one in Dunedin.

The suspect is described as a black male, slim build, 6’3” to 6’4” tall. During the first two robberies the suspect was seen wearing dark colored pants, a red and white plaid shirt, a red bandana covering his face, sunglasses and a ball cap. During the third robbery the suspect was observed to be wearing white pants, a light gray shirt, a light colored ball cap and sunglasses. In the most recent robbery, the suspect was observed to be wearing a light colored ball cap, sunglasses, a plaid shirt and blue jeans.

No one was injured during the robberies.

The investigation continues.

14-227 Deputies Respond To House Fire Caused By Apparent Lightning Strike; No Injuries

What:
Patrol deputies responded to a residential fire in Palm Harbor. Based on interviews with neighbors in the area the fire may have been caused by a lightning strike. No injuries were reported.

When:
Deputies responded to the fire at about  1:06 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014.

Where:
The fire occurred at a private residence located at 758 Timuquana Lane in Palm Harbor.

Why/How:
Deputies say that upon arrival the roof of the home was engulfed in flames and the three fire departments listed above responded to the scene.

Deputies say the home was occupied by a woman and her son. The two made it safely out of the residence.

Deputies say they spoke to neighbors, who reported hearing and seeing what appeared to be a lightning strike to the home.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested two suspects for an armed robbery that occurred at a Metro PCS store in Largo tonight, Friday September 5, 2014; and in connection with armed robberies at several Metro PCS stores in Pinellas County.

At least 4 other robberies have occurred at Metro PCS stores in Pinellas County since Saturday, August 30, 2014. The first occurred at the Metro PCS located at 1363 Main Street in Dunedin. The second armed robbery occurred at the Metro PCS located at 7700 US 19 North in Pinellas Park. The third armed robbery occurred at 6581 102nd Avenue in Pinellas Park. The fourth armed robbery occurred at 3665 East Bay Drive in unincorporated Largo. (For further details see Release 14-224 and 14-226).

When:
The robbery occurred at about 6:45 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014.

Where:
The robbery occurred at the Metro PCS store located at 11881 Seminole Boulevard in Largo.

Why/How:
According to detectives, preliminary information is as follows: 56-year-old Bernard Woods entered the store. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money. He then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect left the store in a white vehicle along with 19 year-old Joshua JnMarie.

The vehicle was spotted by patrol deputies in the area of Ulmerton and Seminole Boulevard; a traffic stop was conducted and the suspects were taken into custody.

Detectives are currently interviewing the suspects and additional charges are forthcoming.

Photos of the suspects will be available once the booking process is complete.

What:
Deputies are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing and endangered Largo man. A Silver alert has been issued.

When:
Mr. Scott was last seen at his home address at about noon on Saturday, September 6, 2014.

Where:
His home address is listed above.

Why/How:
82-year-old Willie Scott was reported missing by his daughter after she went to his home in Largo after noon on September 6, 2014. When she arrived she did not locate her father or his vehicle. He was last seen at his home about noon the same day.

Mr. Scott is considered missing and endangered as he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Mr. Scott was entered in NCIC/FCIC and a Silver Alert has been issued.

His description and his vehicle  description is listed above.

Anyone with information that may assist deputies in locating Mr. Scott is asked to contact their local law enforcement immediately.

Deputies have responded to a fire at the Dunedin Marina after a boat caught fire. Deputies say one man sustained non-life threatening injuries. Four other vessels were also damaged.

When:
Deputies responded to the fire at about 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2014.

Where:
The fire occurred on the vessel that was docked at the Dunedin Marina located at 51 Main Street in Dunedin.

Why/How:
According to deputies, the fire began on a 38 foot Carver – Aft Cabin boat belonging to the Fisher family.

Deputies say the family was not aboard the boat when the fire began. When they noticed the boat had caught fire, 54-year-old Raymond Fisher attempted to save the pets they had aboard – a bird, a tortoise and two lizards. Deputies say Raymond Fisher reached into the boat to release the bird from its cage and in the process sustained burns on his arm up to his ear. Deputies say Fisher was transported by ambulance to Tampa General for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Deputies say four other boats sustained damages as a result of the fire.

The Dunedin Fire Department reponded and is conducting the investigation as to the cause of the fire.

14-231 Deputies Arrest Woman For Attempted Murder After She Attacks Her Husband

What:
Deputies have arrested a Feather Sound woman for Attempted Murder after she attacked her husband with multiple weapons. The attack was apparently domestic related as the couple is going through a divorce. Both were were hospitalized after the attack with non-life threatening injuries.

When:
The attack occurred at about 10:22 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014.

Where:
The attack occurred at the couple’s residence located at 2661 Feather Sound Drive, Clearwater.

Why/How:
According to deputies, the victim 53-year-old Joseph Allen Lettre, arrived home from work sometime after 10:00 p.m. on the evening of September 6, 2014. He headed to his bedroom and found it locked. He asked his wife, 52-year-old Madeline Cadigan-Lettre to let him in his room.

Deputies say Cadigan-Lettre exited her bedroom and proceeded to spray Lettre in the face with hair spray. She then used an electronic control device on him and attacked him with a hammer. According to deputies, Lettre retreated down the hall of the home in an attempt to get away from her. Deputies say Cadigan-Lettre then gave chase and tackled him in the entrance to the living room; and stabbed him and cut him with knives and a screw driver.

Neighbors heard the commotion and called 911 to report an apparent domestic disturbance. When deputies arrived on scene the two were struggling. Deputies separated and secured them.

Lettre was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Cadigan-Lettre was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Cadigan-Lettre was arrested for Attempted Murder. Her booking photo will be available once the booking process is complete.

What:
Deputies responded to a home in unincorporated St. Petersburg after a Great Dane attacked a child in the neighborhood.

When:
Deputies responded to the incident at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014.

Where:
Deputies responded to King of the Road Mobile Home Park located at 5701 Haines Road in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
Deputies responded to the King of  the Road Mobile Home Park located at 5701 Haines Road in Unincorporated St. Petersburg at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 after a child was attacked by a Great Dane.

According to deputies, the dog’s owner, David Watson, was walking his 130 pound, male, Great Dane on a leash in the common area of the mobile home park. Several children in the park approached David and the dog “Otis” and began to pet the dog near lot#513. The victim also approached the dog and began to pet him when he attacked her. As the victim went to the ground the dog bit her in the face, neck and head.

The victim, identified as 6-year-old Ariel Hampshire was transported to a local hospital via ambulance for treatment of serious lacerations.

Pinellas County Animal Control was contacted and took possession of the dog.

No charges are pending at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

14-234 Detectives Seek To Identify Two Credit Fraud Suspects in Unincorporated Clearwater

What:
Detectives assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two credit card fraud suspects from unincorporated Clearwater.

When:
The theft occurred on or around August 7, 2014. The suspects used the victim’s credit card number at four different locations on August 8, 2014.

Where:
The suspects used the victim’s credit card number at a Home Depot store located at 30144 US Highway 19 North in Clearwater, two Walmart stores located at 41232 US Highway 19 North and 23106 Highway 19 North in Clearwater and a Walgreens – unknown location.

How/Why:
Detectives assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two credit card fraud suspects from unincorporated Clearwater.

According to detectives, the victim last used her credit card at a Shell gas station in Palm Harbor. The following day the suspects used the victim’s credit card number six times at various locations, to include a Home Depot store located at 30144 US Highway 19 North in Clearwater, two Walmart stores located at 41232 US Highway 19 North and 23106 Highway 19 North in Clearwater and a Walgreens – unknown location at this time.

The male suspect was observed to be alone at the first Walmart location but was seen with the female suspect and a child at the second Walmart location.

The male suspect is described as a white male, between 25 and 35 years old, average build with close cut brown hair. He was last observed to be wearing a blue t-shirt with a picture of what appears to be a mini bus/van with a surfboard on top, blue and white plaid long shorts and brown flip flops.

The female suspect is described as a white female, between 25 and 35 years old with blonde hair pulled up in a bun. She was last observed to be wearing  a cream colored t-shirt with grey screen print on the front, red slacks, brown shoes and carrying a large white/cream colored bag/purse.

A young male child, possibly 3 years of age, was observed to be with the two suspects at a Walmart location.

The two suspects were observed to be driving a 4-door sedan, possibly a hatchback that was red in color.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Arson and Auto Theft Unit have responded to investigate a fire at a motel in Palm Harbor. A resident staying in the room was injured due to smoke inhalation.

When:
Deputies initially responded to the fire at about 3:12 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014.

Where:
The fire occurred at the Kings Inn Motel located at 34107 US Hwy 19 North in Palm Harbor.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Arson and Auto Theft Unit have responded to investigate a fire at the Kings Inn Motel located at 34107 US Hwy 19, room 210, in Palm Harbor.

According to investigators, the fire appears to have started near the door to the motel room where discarded cigarettes were found.

At the time of the fire, a resident living at the motel was in the room sleeping. The resident, identified as 64-year-old Walter William Manning was transported to a local hospital via Bayflite with life-threatening injuries due to smoke inhalation.

No one else was injured in the fire and no other rooms in the motel were damaged due to the fire.

According to detectives, the fire does not appear suspicious at this time.

The investigation continues.

14-236 Pinellas Detectives Arrest Man On Iowa Warrant For Sexual Abuse

The victims are a 14-year-old female and 16-year-old female who were known to the suspect. Per Fl. Statute, 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victims.

What:
Detectives have arrested a man on an Iowa warrant for Sexual Abuse-Child. The victims were a 14-year-old female and 16-year-old female that were known to the suspect.

When:
The suspect was arrested on Thursday, September 11, 2014. The crime occurred from when the victim’s were 8 years of age to their present age of 14 and 16 years old.

Where:
The crime occurred at undisclosed location in Tama County, Iowa.

Why/How:
Pinellas County detectives began their investigation on Thursday, September 11, 2014 after they were contacted by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa, requesting assistance with their investigation. Detectives advised a warrant had been issued for the suspect, 52-year-old Stewart David Smith for Sexual Abuse-Child.

Detectives stated Smith has admitted to the media in Iowa that he is a pedophile who has been to prison for crimes related to juveniles. Smith has a criminal history dating back to the 1990’s and was a registered sexual offender, but currently has no restrictions and is not required to register.

Pinellas County detectives met with Smith on Thursday, September 11, 2014 and arrested him on the Tama County warrant.  Smith was transported to the Pinellas County jail without further incident. There are currently no local charges.

Detectives advised that Smith has routinely taken part in juvenile related functions with church youth groups and girl scouts while living in Iowa. While living in Florida, he lived near a school and church daycare; therefore there could be local victims.

What:
Detectives have charged a bank robbery suspect with additional charges after learning he was the suspect in four separate fraud cases.

Where:
The robbery occurred at the Bank of America located at 8181 54th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg.  The fraud cases occurred at four private residences in the Five Towns Subdivision in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

When:
The robbery occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Detectives began their investigation into the fraud cases around May 2014.

How/Why:
Pinellas County detectives have charged a bank robbery suspect with an additional charge of Scheme To Defraud.

Detectives assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit began their four month investigation into four separate incidents where the suspect agreed to replace cabinets or windows in the victims’ home, the victims’ paid the suspect for the work and the work was never completed. The four victims where all from within the Five Towns Subdivision in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

During their investigation, the suspect, identified as 52-year-old Mark Merrill was arrested in connection to an armed bank robbery at the Bank of America located at 8181 54th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Detectives met with Merrill in July after he was arrested and he admitted to the allegations.

Merrill has been charged with one count of Scheme to Defraud.

The investigation continues.
